Our FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) page is here to help answer some of the more common questions that you might have.

If you’re unable to find the answer to your question below please feel free to contact us for more information or to arrange a visit to the nursery with your children.


Q) - Where is the Sandpit Nursery Located ?

The Sandpit Nursery is situated in the very heart of Barnsley’s town centre on Pitt Street, in the newly renovated building of the Old Methodist Church. Full details are available on the Contact Us page.

Q) - What are your Opening Hours ?

The Sandpit is open 52 weeks of the year, closing only for statutory Bank Holidays. Our opening hours are 8 am - 6 pm, but if the need arises we are willing to open earlier and for longer.

Q) - Can we Visit for a look around ?

Yes indeed, we will be happy to show you around. We strongly recommend you arrange a visit to come and see us, where both you and your child can get a feel for the nursery.

Q) - Are your Staff all Qualified ?

Yes, our staff are employed on the basis that they are qualified to work with children. More details are available about Our Staff here.

Q) - Do you prepare and cook your own food ?

Yes, all our meals follow a whole foods policy, meaning our cook uses fresh fruit and vegetables wherever possible, keeping processed foods to a minimum. Full details are available on our Healthy Eating page.

Q) - Do you provide Out of School Services ?

Yes, our Out of School Centre caters for children from 3 to 12 years and is divided into three main areas, and includes a Breakfast Club and an After School Club.

Q) - What are the Fees and how are they Paid ?

Fees are payable by direct debit 1 month in advance. For full details and latest prices, please contact us directly, or call in at the Nursery for a price list. Please note that all sessions booked must be paid for, regardless of whether the child attends. No refunds will be given for sessions missed due to sickness or holidays. Q) - What are your Security Arrangements ?

Security is one of our highest priorities. We have an electric gate which is monitored by an intercom. The front door has a CCTV entry system, and Each room has CCTV cameras in it. We also operate a password system for every child, set up by the parent/carer on registration. More details are available in our Policies and Procedures.

Q) - What about Health and Safety ?

We employ an outside agency who advices us on all aspects of our health and safety. They inspect us annually and issue a report of their findings. They keep us informed of any changes in legislations and new codes of conduct. We also have inspections by local environmental health officers for both health and safety and food hygiene. These have always been passed with no problems and they have commented on our outstanding facilities.

Q) - Do you have a copy of your Terms and Conditions ?

Yes, our Terms and Conditions are available in hard copy if you call in at the Nursery in person. They can also be downloaded here from the website.
